How to pick eyeglasses for your face shape

I
f you think that wearing glasses will make you look like a stern librarian, think again. The good news: choosing the right pair of glasses can actually enhance your best features and even make you look younger. And today’s optometrists’ shops are lined with thousands of frames, so you’re bound to find something you totally love. The big challenge, of course, is finding the right one. Read this article on how to find the best glasses for your face shape.

Glasses for the Oval shaped shape
Oval shaped faces are longer than they are wider, and have balanced features. Think Halle Berry. This means you can pull off practically any style of glasses. A rule of thumb, though, is to make sure that the glasses are as wide than the broadest part of your face. If you go too thin, this can make your face look even longer. Popular and stylish bests are cat eyes, wraparounds, and square and slightly oversized lenses.
Glasses for the Triangle shaped face
You have a narrow forehead and a prominent jaw, like Jennifer Aniston. To balance your stronger jaw, wear frames with details on the upper rim—more color, or an eye catching cat eye shape. Or try a frame that is broader at the top than it is at the bottom.
Glasses for the Round shaped face
The soft curves of your face have similar length and width, like Catherina Zeta Jones. Draw attention to your cheekbones with narrow frames that have angular edges. And, for obvious reasons, avoid very large circular frames, unless you want to look like an owl.
Glasses for the Square face
You have a facial shape similar to Sandra Bullock: broad forehead, and very prominent jawline. Square or rectangular frames will only overemphasize the shape. You need curved or slightly rounded edges to soften your features.
Glasses for the Diamond shaped face
You have very prominent cheekbones and a narrow brow and jawline, like Scarlet Johannson. Whether you want to highlight or play down your cheekbones is up to you. You can pick dramatic frames, which will make you look even more exotic, or choose a more subtle rimless style. However, comfort is key. Smile when you try on your glasses. Pick a narrower pair if you feel the lenses touch your cheeks.
Glasses for the Heart shaped face
You have a face similar to Reese Witherspoon: you have a broad forehead, and a narrow chin. Avoid big and heavy glasses or cat eyes that can overwhelm your delicate features. Instead, choose a light metal or clear plastic frame that is broader at the bottom, or a translucent or rimless frame.
