The Best Skin Care Products for Face Pimples and Wrinkles

Posted on
Acne affects all skin types, including oily, dry and aging skin. When acne occurs on aging skin, it can be difficult to know the best products to use, since many acne-fighting products can be too drying for wrinkled skin. Luckily, there are a few products that can clear acne without exacerbating wrinkles.
Sensitive Skin Soap
Regular facial soaps contain harsh chemical ingredients, such as sodium lauryl sulfate, which can exacerbate dryness and wrinkling on the skin. A soap designed for sensitive skin types will not contain ingredients that will irritate or inflame the skin.
When washing your skin with a sensitive skin soap, avoid scrubbing or rubbing your skin too aggressively. This can stretch and pull on your skin. Use a gentle touch, spreading the soap lather around your face, then rinse the lather off with warm water. Repeat twice per day.
Tea Tree Oil
Most people treat their acne using over-the-counter acne-fighting products, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid gel or astringent toners. Unfortunately, people with aging and wrinkled skin can experience severe irritation and dryness from these products. Luckily, the Department of Dermatology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital suggests that tea tree oil can be just as effective as benzoyl peroxide cream in clearing up acne breakouts, but will not cause the skin to react the same way. To use tea tree oil on acne, fill a bottle with 8 oz. of water, and add 5 drops of tea tree oil. Soak a cotton ball in the solution, and apply it to the effected skin up to three times per day.
Calamine Lotion
Calamine lotion is typically used to treat the blisters of a chicken pox virus and to relieve redness and irritation from a poison ivy rash. Calamine lotion can also be used to reduce redness and irritation from acne breakouts as well. Since calamine lotion is both drying and soothing, it can be used on individual acne blemishes to dry them up, without causing the rest of the skin to become irritated.
To apply calamine lotion to the skin, soak the tip of a cotton swab in the lotion, then dab it onto each acne pustule. Allow the lotion to dry, and let it remain there for up to 2 hours. Rinse off the lotion with water, and repeat up to three times per day.
