My Homemade Face Masks & Giveaway
Making masks at home are so easy. I have acquired quite a collection of lotion and soap making supplies over the past year, so I always have stuff on hand to make masks with.
Ingredients. One thing I love about the products that I have from Organic Creations is that it tells you right on the package the benefits of the clay or extracts. It also offers some recommended uses.
For this mask I'm going to use:
Easy Process. I don't measure anything. My process has been to add tablespoons of each ingredient into my jar, then shake to blend everything together.
Kaolin Red Clay and French Green Clay added:
Green Tea Extract and Activated Charcoal Powder added:
Butter Milk Powder and some Colloidal Oatmeal added:
Finished Product. It doesn't look too exciting. But it works wonders! The end result is a grayish powder with a natural/earthy scent to it.
Using the Mask. Then when I'm ready to do a mask, I blend some powder with aloe concentrate until it forms a thick paste. You could mix it with water, oil, or anything you like. I have tried water, jojoba oil, and apricot kernel oil. But the aloe concentrate was the mixing agent that I found I liked the best.
This is the aloe vera concentrate and the jar of mask powder I have currently been using:
I take a small bowl into the bathroom with me and add some powder and aloe to it. I then mix the aloe and powder until I get the right consistency. I have tried just mixing the powder and aloe in my hand, but I tend to make a mess.
This is what to mask paste looks like:
Benefits to Clay Masks. What I really like about these masks is that they harden when they dry. I personally like this because it feels great to my skin. In addition, when I use a warm washcloth to remove the mask, the dry mask acts as an exfoliant. So not only do I get detoxification benefits, I also get exfoliation!
Essential Oils. The one thing I have not done yet, but want to do, is add essential oils to the mask. I bet tea tree oil would work wonders! I have some clary sage oil on the way and I'm definitely going to have to give it a try in the mask sometime!
GIVEAWAY TIME!
