1. Remove makeup using Vaseline - There are various makeup removers over the counter to choose from, but if you can't find one that best fits your skin, Vaseline is a wonderful alternative. Not only does it enable you to remove your makeup completely, but it is so gentle that it doesn't irritate the skin or burn the eyes. Another plus about using Vaseline as a makeup remover is the fact that it's very inexpensive and can be purchased from Walmart or just about anywhere else.
2. Avoid the use of soap - After using Vaseline or whatever product you choose to remove your makeup with, you need to completely wash your face. Avoiding soap is a good idea as it is drying to the skin. Using a specially prepared facial cleanser is a much better choice and can help your skin retain some of its natural moisture, reducing the signs of aging.
3. Use a moisturizer following removal - Even if you aren't using soap to wash your face, your skin will be a lot healthier and more supple if you apply a moisturizer after cleansing it. With the numerous choices of moisturizers currently on the market, you should be able to find one or more that work best for you.
4. Never leave makeup on overnight - Most commercial makeup contains more chemicals than you may realize, which can be the cause of a myriad of unwanted skin issues should you forget to wash off your makeup each night. These unwanted skin issues can include acne, clogged pores, and a dull complexion, all of which are problems that most women try their absolute best to avoid.
5. Exfoliate whenever possible - By regularly exfoliating your skin, you give yourself the opportunity to remove old, possibly damaged skin and reveal younger, more beautiful skin underneath. Exfoliating doesn't have to be done everyday, and in fact daily exfoliating could be too harsh for your skin, but once a week should be sufficient. In addition to its other benefits, regular exfoliation will help your makeup to look better as well.
It's not difficult to properly clean the skin each night and remove the makeup so that the skin will remain healthy and vibrant. Even if you only wear light makeup, you must never forget the importance of proper makeup removal, or you could end up suffering the consequences. Instead of using makeup to enhance your beauty, if you don't clean the makeup off on a regular basis, you could end up looking older, worn-out and not so healthy, and you certainly don't want to experience that.
