August 20, EYE MAKEUP TIPS

Smokey eye look, no one can deny its lasting trend. Though smokey eye look has been popular since quite a long time ago, many celebrities are still using smokey eye look for formal and grand events. You can notice celebrities like Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Jessica Alba, they all wear smokey eyes! What does this imply? It means smokey eye is a must to learn and to apply!
As most of the people know, to blend well the eye shadows is the key to beautiful smokey eyes. Other than the blending skill, you also need to be careful to choose shimmer and matte shadow. Usually, when people wish to have smokey eyes, they prefer the matte look to the shimmer look.
Three eye shadows with similar colors are the basic tools for your smokey eyes. The three eye shadows are acting the highlight, mid-tone and contour functions. Highlight is for highlight purpose and usually people will choose a shimmer one. Mid-tone is the main color of the smokey eye and usually it is black or grey and matte. You can choose either shimmer or matte ones depending on the look you want. For the very originally one, matte one is suggested.
Before you actually applied the eye shadow, do all the pre-makeup things like cleaning your eyes, applying eye foundation and concealer. Then you can start with drawing the upper and lower eye line. Match the color of eye line with your whole color tone but with a softer one. Remember to smudge the eye line.
After the foundation work, you can first apply the highlight eye shadow to the whole upper lid. Then it comes to the mid-tone eye shadow. Apply the mid-tone only from lash line to the crease, not the whole upper lid. Blend well the joint line for the two eye shadows. After blending well, add on the contour from the lash line to the crease again and blend and smudge well. Make sure the two eyes look the same.
To have a really smokey eyes look, eye shadow does 85% of the job. And the remaining relies a lot on mascara. Remember to apply the black and volume-enhancing mascara to match the whole tone.
Whenever people talk about smokey eyes, the colors black and grey must come to your mind. In fact, you can use the same techniques for smokey eyes but using different darker colors like purple, dark green, dark blue, copper, etc. You can choose other colors that are suitable for you according to your skin tone, eye color and hair color. A simple rule is to match the same color tone with your eye color like blue eye ladies can try dark blue and green eye ladies can try dark green.
